Well now we know that the war wasn't going to be a quick one and our troops may have to stay there for another 5 years or so it isn't looking like a war we should have fought.

I support the troops doing their dangerous job out there in the Gulf but i am crossing my fingers that they come home soon and don't lose too many lives.

What is everyone on about. We are already ATTACKING IRAQ you fools and we dont have the UN's backing. Do you really think all the forces are going to pull out just because you cut down millions of innocent trees to make your pointless banners and go protesting in London.

Now that we have commited and our troops are on the ground and in the line of fire we should back them up and pray for a speedy resolution to this middle east crisis.

Looks like the warmongers have got their way and they are going to take us into an unethical war and spend billions in the process. I hope they are happy.

I support Blair and Bush on this war. Its dirty work but someone has to do it or we will live to regret it. We can't afford to show weakness in the face of adversity and i admire those two leaders for that. Shame about the saboteurs in the cabinet (Robin Cook & Claire Short). If i was Blair I would show the same resilience in the face of opposition with them as with the bleeding French and fire them. If we all don’t get behind the PM and more importantly our lads out there in the Gulf we might as well write their death certificates right now and post it to them.

There is no excuse for war. There is enough pain and death in the world without creating a whole lot more. We need to use our brains rather than bullets to resolve this matter.

It is an american war but that's only because the rest of the world are to lazy or ill-equiped to take care of business. The world needs to be rid of saddam and the americans are determined to do it. Thank you america.

This war has nothing to do with Britain and everything to do with America. Tony Blair is simply chasing a carrot on a stick. The rumours going around say this war is all about oil and money but that is an easy assumption to make because everything is about money but in this case money is more of a fringe benefit rather than the driving force. I think that the 9:11 attacks acted as a catalyst and as Bush himself put it, they have ‘woken a sleeping giant’. American foreign policy stinks and their narcissistic attitude towards the rest of the world has become their downfall. As much as my heart goes out to the Americans after the 9:11 attacks they must realise their foreign policy is to blame. There are hundreds of thousands of Arabs in Europe and any European country could have been a target but it wasn’t. They targeted the US and now the entire Muslim world will have to reap the whirlwind of the American might and along the way the US will become even more powerful as they soak up what remains of Arab oil. So Tony Blair and the UK government should stop sticking their nose in where it doesn’t concern them or one day we will become the target of terrorist attacks on the scale of 9:11 and if America think that blowing up the Muslims will sort their problem out, they will have to learn the hard way.

It's funny how people keep going on about the number of people that sadam has killed but forget how many people allied bombs and UN sanctions have killed. Is it better to die at the hands of a brutal dictator or is it better to be incinerated by a 1000lbs bomb. Both are just as bad because death is death which ever way you look at it. Sadam's reign has to end but with the least amount of damage to the innocent and already suffering iraq people. When we last tried to free the people of Iraq from their tyranical leader it all went horribly wrong and as a consequence the iraq people have had to put up with more hardships than before we invaded in the first place. It's no good doing a job if you're going to do it poorly and make things worse than they were before. If the next war on iraq fails to eject sadam and produce a better life for the iraqi people then it will be yet another failure on our part and it would also prove that saving the iraqi people from hardships was just a smoke screen for our leaders to go in and get what they really want.

I think (for once) That Tony Blair summed up very well, the REAL hardship and tyranny the people of Iraq have had to put up with for the last 12 years, in a speech he gave to the house earlier this week. We have to remember that Saddam is not just some wild, old bandit with a cigar and a gun, he's an evil man who killed off 1000's of his own people with chemical weapons.

Somehow i don't think disarming Iraq is the last thing the world needs at this critical time. If you give it a bit more thought i'm pretty sure that you could come up with much worse things that could happen eg: A bomb laced with radioactive material (DIRTY BOMB) being detonated in the middle of one of our cities. I don't support unilateral action but if the UN don't take their heads out of the sand the term 'coalition of the willing' sounds good to me. American & British troops can lead the way backed up by the likes of Spain, Italy and a few others ought to be able to get the job done and the job does need to get done once and for all.

An attack on Iraq is the last thing the world needs at this critical time. There is no proof that Iraq poses any kind of threat to the Middle East or anywhere else on this planet so an attack will be unjustified. It's a war for oil, money and power and the UK and US governments are both in on it without the backing of their people. Some democracy we live in!

There is no question Saddam is an evil man, that's one thing everyone agrees upon but Britain and America must have UN backing before they invade. If they go in alone they might win the battle but the war will be far from won and Saddam will still be in power.

No is the answer to that question. America should listen to the UN and seek a peaceful process. If they attack iraq without UN backing they will lose any high ground they previously had and become no better than the dictator they are trying to get rid of.
