Nowadays it is very rare for people to save
themselves for marriage, lets face it we all need a road test before
we commit to anything long term, but when confronted by the question,
‘How many people have you slept with?’ What do you do? |

Since the Sixties attitudes towards sex has changed dramatically. People feel free to explore their sexuality openly and are not afraid to talk about it. It is no big deal to sit around with your mates and relive every climatic moment, but are people so honest when faced with a new potential partner.
It is only natural to be curious about your new partner’s sexual history, especially when faced with the possible risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV, but are you really that comfortable divulging or hearing the truth?
I recently heard an amusing urban myth that there is a general rule of three. Women tend to reduce the number of partners by three whereas men increase by three. This only confounds old- fashioned double standards that women should not sleep around and men are celebrated for doing so.
If you have slept with a lot of people your new partner might think that you are an easy lay, yet you don’t want to come across as an inexperienced prude. Either way you can’t escape some form of judgement. There is nothing more unattractive than the thought of your new partner having shagged their way through the whole borough.
Health experts say that when you have unprotected sex with someone you are in theory sleeping with their last seven partners. With that in mind it is important that you do have a vague idea of how many notches are actually on the bed- post.
However, you don’t want to jeopardise a potential serious relationship by confessing to your wild heady days at University. It is a no win situation, you don’t want lie but you don’t want judgement day to come too early.
When confronted by the question, “How many partners have you had?” many people will choose to play safe and stick to single figures. However, if you are proud of your conquests and you are a randy bugger then the truth should not be a problem, so long as you are practising safe sex then there is no harm done. |
