Anyone who watches the news or reads the daily papers will know that the UK has got an ever increasing problem with gun crime, so when an advert featuring 50 Cent was aired on TV showing the rapper counting up to 9 ( a reference to how many times he was shot ) it was bound to cause some controversy.
Among the first people to slam the advert was Lucy Cope, of Southwark, south London whose 22 year-old son Damian was shot and killed in Holborn, north London, in 2002.
Mrs Cope who is the founder of 'Mothers Against Guns' has called for a boycott of all Reebok products until they pull the advert and apologise.

Reebok's responded by saying that the 'I am what I am' adverts in fact carried a positive message.
A spokeswoman said: "Reebok does not condone or support every action, choice or view expressed by the hundreds of athletes and entertainers who wear our products.
"However, we do support their individuality and their right to express themselves freely."
She added: "50 Cent has become one of the world's most successful recording artists.
"The advert reflects the facts of 50 Cent's life to date - it references what he has had to overcome to reach his global iconic status.
"This is a positive call to our audience - whoever or wherever you are, you can achieve."
Do you think the 50 cent commercial is irresponsible advertising or
do you buy the Reebok line that the message within the advert can
influence people in a positive way? |
